This week our transport theme took a different direction with the support of the story ‘Maisy’s Bus’.
When the children arrived in the classroom on Monday morning, they were all surprised to see buses hiding in different positions, and it discover that they changed their hiding places. Throughout the week the children discussed at circle time where they could see buses, ‘under the table’, ‘beside the books’, ‘on top of the window’.
Using junk materials, the children created their own modes of transport and took pride as their creations were added to the transport display. We also explored paint with our feet this week, and sang ‘The feet in the paint go stomp, stomp, stomp’ as we stomped along the paper. Our footprints looked very colourful.
The song this week was of course, ‘The wheels on the bus’, which we sang together, all joining in the actions and words. As the week progressed, we added instruments to the song and also began changing the words to the song; we have some budding song artists at pre-school!
We continued to develop skills in using scissors, doing up our own coats and representing numbers using our fingers; we are getting very clever within all these areas.
I wonder where our learning adventure will take us next week?
