All week Year 6 have been campaigning in school on behalf of their chosen representatives. There were candidates from the Green Party, the Labour Party, the Conservative Part and the Liberal Democrats. Their campaign teams designed posters and rosettes, which could be seen all around the school. Yesterday each party gave a speech in assembly and today voting took place in each classroom constituency. After a careful count the results were announced and it was a landslide victory for the Green Party, with 74 votes, who stood on the local issue of protecting Tiddesley Wood, alongside a host of national and global issues. The party with the next highest number of votes tallied 46 votes.
It was wonderful to see the children so enthused and feeling so connected to national and global issues. It gives us all hope, as the future will surely be safe in their hands.
Thank you to Mr Harbinson for sharing his expertise in Politics and for helping the children to organise and run their campaigns and today’s vote.
