On the last day of term we said goodbye to our Year 6 cohort, but not before they led the whole school, and their families, in a fantastic assembly, where they celebrated their time at Holy Redeemer by illustrating where they have learnt about and demonstrated our Catholic Social Teaching elements.
The assembly began with Pope Francis meeting with two of his cardinals and trying to explain Catholic Social Teaching to them. When they struggled to understand, he held the Year 6 cohort at Holy Redeemer School up as an example to them and took them back in time to watch scenes from across the children’s time at school. The class re-enacted key moments from their primary years, where they built their friendships, had fun together and learnt how to live their lives built on God. They wowed the rest of the school with their amazing singing and we were so proud to see all that they had achieved and how hard they had worked to fulfil the School mission statement and ‘become great people, who make a difference in our world’.
After the assembly the children were awarded with an El Salvador cross each as a gift from School, and a dictionary from the Round Table. One of our Governors, Mrs Josie Green, was there to give out the end of year trophies and shields for outstanding progress and achievements. Thank you to her and to all of our leavers and their families, for everything that they have contributed to the school over the years.
