Last week, Year 3 went back in time to explore what the Romans did for Great Britain. They learnt how many times the Romans invaded Britain, and about the ranks in the Roman Army. During forest school in the afternoon, two legions were created with their own legates, tribunes, praefecti and centurions. They designed their own shield, complete with a boss, and incorporated symbolism associated with their supreme god, Jupiter. The praefectus was in charge of making a good base for all of his centurions and to keep others out! The afternoon culminated in a decisive bean-bag battle between the two legions. Thank you very much to Mrs Andrews and Miss Thorley for facilitating such a fun and informative afternoon.
