Yesterday Holy Redeemer took part in the national Hello Yellow day, run by children’s mental healthy charity, Young Minds. This year the theme was about solidarity and community, sharing the message “You are not alone.”

Everyone came to school wearing yellow and brought in a donation for this important charity. In class the children thought about what makes them different and special. Each child designed their own ‘dot’ (based on the book ‘The Dot’, by Peter H Reynolds, showing their individuality, and all of the dots in the school will be put together to make a big display to represent how none of us is alone.

At break time, instead of selling toast, the School Council sold porridge in aid of Mary’s Meals-a charity that feeds hungry children in developing countries as a way of showing those children that they are not alone either. What a wonderful way to live out our Catholic Social Teaching principals of ‘Options for the Poor and Vulnerable’ and and ‘Family and Community’.
