Message from the Foodbank:
Dear Donors,
We have had record-breaking donations to the Foodbank over Harvest Festival and have been overwhelmed by your kindness. The “sorting and packing” volunteers have been working extra hard to get everything on the shelves ready for what looks as if it is going to be a very challenging winter. Don’t worry about them though; this year they will be having their first Christmas party/get together since before the pandemic and we’re hoping it will be a very special occasion in gratitude for all their efforts.
Before I get on to the more enjoyable subject of Christmas, let me just add a special thank you to those of you who have included the less “glamorous” materials such as household cleaning products to your bags of donations. Laundry detergent, in particular, was expensive even before the “cost of living crisis” and it is an enormous relief to our families to know that we can help with essentials like this.
My colleague, Lynne, has produced a super poster for our latest donation drive (see attachment). Many of you will know how we make up special hampers for our clients, over and above the plainer staples that we give out in the regular food parcels. In previous years, this little bit of extra cheer has been extremely well received and so we think it will be even more important this year.
Thanking you for all your kindness and consideration.
