Eco Council-RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch

The Eco Council and Mrs Barker took part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch this week. They filled up the bird feeders and took turns, across an hour, spotting and counting the birds that visited the school garden. They used a garden birds spotter poster to help them identify what they saw. The most prevalent bird in our garden was the blackbird, followed by wood pigeons. The children also saw a robin and a coal tit.

Afterwards the children helped Mrs Barker to submit their results to the RSPB to help them to build a picture of how our UK birds are doing. It was great to take part in what is one of the biggest UK citizen science projects!
