The Eco Council signed the school up to this year’s Big Battery Hunt, which is now in its fourth year. The UK’s biggest school battery recycling programme (13 million batteries recycled and counting) gives pupils the opportunity to work together and make a positive impact on our planet.
In order to spread the message across the school, Mrs Barker and the Eco Council led an assembly last week. The rest of the school were amazed to hear that over a billion batteries are made in the UK each year, and fascinated to learn what they are made from.
The Eco Councillors from each class then did a survey to find out how the children in their class use batteries at home. Each class will now work hard to see how many used batteries they can bring in from home, so that we can send them for recycling and continue to make use of the precious materials inside them.
Thank you Eco Council and Mrs Barker!
