When Reception Class visited Forest School yesterday, they found that someone had got there before them! A mysterious trail of carrots led them to find the Easter Bunny sitting in a tree. It was lucky for him that the children turned up when they did, because he was in need of some help. He had brought with him some numbered Easter Egg pictures, but he had lost them. The children were very eager to help and quickly spread out across the forest school area and worked together to find as many of the egg pictures as they could.
The Easter Bunny asked the children to look at the number on the egg that they were holding and get into a line in number order. When the children did this, they realised that one of the egg pictures was missing. They also realised that the eggs were different colours and that the Easter Bunny had used a colour pattern when numbering the eggs. With a bit of discussion, the children were able to work out that the missing egg was green, which helped them to find it.
The Easter Bunny was so happy to have all of his egg pictures back, that he exchanged each card for a mini chocolate egg to reward the children for their help.
Well done Reception Class on applying your fantastic maths and thinking skills to be ‘collaborative cats’ and help someone in need.
