This half term pre-school are learning all about colour and celebrations. Last week they started to explore Diwali, the festival of light. The children had the opportunity to mix colours, to create new colours. They also used a drum to beat powder paint to observe it dance in the sky, which then led to mixing colours on the pavement with a broom. The children displayed fascination as they watched it change to brown. They also looked at Rangoli Patterns and then had a go themselves, using chalks outside, and then using playdough with lentils and pasta shapes in the classroom. The children participated in a measuring and counting activity and made Diwali sweets from coconut and condensed milk. Looking closely at Mehndi they then used paint in piping bags to create their own patterns. What a busy week!
