Cross Country Running Competition

30 children from Holy Redeemer, across Years 5 and 6, took part in the Cross Country run at Prince Henry’s High School on Tuesday 15th February. Everyone ran very well and children from Year 6 were delighted to see the improvement in their placing from the previous year. Olly was thrilled to have moved up 16 places!

The Year 5 boys were all outstanding, with 4 finishing in the top 8: Tom 1st (gold medal), Toby M 3rd (bronze medal), Alfie Q 7th and Nelson 8th. Such high finishes meant the boys won the overall shield for the Year 5 boys’ category.

Elizabeth took gold in the Year 5 girls’ category and, along with Tom and Toby M, will go through to the Worcestershire Games Finals on 28th February. Alfie Q and Nelson narrowly missed out on qualifying, as anyone finishing in the top 6 positions goes through.

Each category had over 80 runners so a huge achievement by all. Other top 20 finishers  were: Yr 5 girls’-Jess (18th), Year 6 boys-Christian (16th), Max (17th) and Year 6 girls’; Natalia (16th) and Ava (18th).

We are very proud of them all and hope many children across the school will continue to come to Running Club on Tuesday mornings.
