This week in pre-school, learning has been based around the story, ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?’, which supported the children’s learning about colours. They used puppets of the characters to retell the story, repeating the phrases from the story and also creating our own stories with them.
The children also explored patterns and repeating patterns, using Duplo and making chains following images of patterns. They investigated size and ordered teddy bears in size order.
Their Concept Cat word this week was, ‘under’. With the help of the story ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’, the children were able to act out the adventure for Concept Cat and secure his understanding of this new concept too! The children then continued to explore prepositional language with items around the classroom, putting these ‘on top’, ‘beside’, in front’ and ‘behind’ other items.
