Chick Week in Pre-school

In Hopscotch this week, we used the lifecycle of a chicken to begin our learning.  We used the traditional tale of Chicken Licken, and noticed the repeating phrases and rhyming words.  We continued with rhyming words in phonics, trying to match and guess what the rhyme might be.

Concept Cat taught us about the concept ‘loud’.  We sang happy birthday to Ellie in a loud voice and a ‘not loud’ voice. The children wanted to have an impromptu birthday party session at snack time, where we enjoyed strawberries and a cupcake, then danced and played musical statues.

In maths we are continuing to sort objects in different ways.  We began using colour then identified others ways we can sort objects.  We are also learning to recognise and read numerals.

In our RE sessions we learned a new song ‘Love One Another’ and have been thinking about how to be kind to each other and listening to stories from our class Bible.
