The Eco Council toy and gift sale this week, went really well; bringing in just under £300 for their chosen charity.
The sale took place outside on the playground, with parents arriving at 2.45pm to bag a bargain. There were some amazing new and nearly new gifts and toys to be had. The games and puzzles were snapped up very quickly and the tables became empty as buyers’ bags filled up!
The Eco Council and some Year 6 prefects were great sales people and when the children arrived at 3.15 they continued to work hard.
Some of the money raised will go towards sponsoring another seal at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, with the remaining money going towards supporting the Higaonon people in the Philippines with a Tree Growing Initiative.
The contributions to the wider world and community doesn’t stop there – the 3 bags of unsold gifts will also be donated to a local charity shop for others to benefit just before the Christmas season.
Thank you to all of the staff and children who helped on the day, to the parents and children who donated their unwanted toys and gifts and to anyone who bought something at the sale. A massive thank you from the Eco Council, Mrs Barker. Your hard work will make a real difference to the seals in the Cornish Sanctuary and to the Higaonon people in the Philippines-a great way to live out our Catholic Social Teaching principles of Stewardship.
