Building Learning Power Evening (BLP)

On Monday parents, carers, Governors, staff and pupils came together in the evening to talk about the way in which the school has implemented BLP and integrated it into the school curriculum.

The evening had been organised by the Governors as a way of increasing communication with parents about some of the great work that is being done in school.
After a brief welcome and overview by Steve Thorley (Parent Governor), Mrs Hall explained what BLP was and how it was helping the children with their learning, including explaining how the school had adapted it to suit the needs of even the youngest children in the school, by linking the traits to characters that the staff had designed and Mrs Breakwell had brought to life in drawings.
Mrs Williams talked about Super Learning Days and how the school had been using them for many years now, to help support the children in developing their learning skills and Mrs Sanders spoke about the BLP assemblies that she does with the children and gave feed back from the children about how they felt BLP was helping them.
The evening was finished off by some parents getting involved in some BLP activities set up and run by staff and some of our older pupils.
Parents and carers who attended said that it had been a very informative evening and requested that they evening be repeated and that other evenings be put on focusing on other subjects. Maths was a popular request, so look out for a Governors’ Maths Information Evening some time next term.
