Well done to everyone who joined Miss Taylor, Mrs Elcocks and Mrs Barber-Smith this morning for the Brake Big Walk to School.
Brake is a charity that believe every child has the right to walk in their community without fear of traffic and pollution. Danger from traffic is a big factor in whether families are able to walk safely in the places where they live. It affects their ability to be healthy and socially active.
Brake’s Kids Walk is a great way to inspire and engage children about the dangers they face, promote the benefits of walking, and raise awareness among parents and the wider community about the need to protect children on roads, which is why we took part. Miss Taylor led the walk from Abbey Park, showing everyone the safest route to get to school and practising crossing roads safely: a great way to live out our Catholic Social Teaching elements of ‘family and community’ and ‘dignity of the human person’, by making sure that everyone knows how to stay safe.
