In preparation for Ash Wednesday Reception Class had a go at making their own crosses, like the ones that are made out of palm leaves at Easter. They talked about how the palms from last year had been burnt to make the ashes that would be used in church on Ash Wednesday. They drew their own faces and used their thumbs to draw ash crosses on the foreheads. Then their Year 6 prefects came in to help them, and acted out being the priest and one of the congregation who was getting their ashes put on their foreheads. Today the children joined in with the parish mass and Father Amal put ash crosses on them as part of the service.
Thank you Father Amal, for a lovely mass and thank you children for all of your lovely singing and reading.
