Mr Turner took whole school assembly this morning, where he talked to the children about his important it is for everyone to work together, for the good of the school, and how this is an important value for life. The children told him about all of our pupil councils and how they work with the rest of the school to look after the environment (Eco Council), raise money for those in need (Values Council), help everyone to stay fit and healthy (Sports Council and Change for life Teams) and help make the school a happy place (School Council). Mr Turner was very impressed!
During the assembly Mr Turner shared some inspirational quotes on this theme, and showed a short film of the story of The Little Red Hen, where the hen wanted to work with the other animals, but they didn’t want to help her.
When asked about how this message fitted with our Catholic Social Teaching Values, there was a Forest of hands up, and the children were able to link it to ‘Family and Community’, ‘Solidarity and the Common Good’, and ‘Dignity and Respect of the Human Person’: very impressive.
The assembly finished with one of Mr Turner’s favourite songs, ‘Stand by Me’.
