Today we had an amazing visit from the Upton Blues Festival outreach team. In the morning Years 4 and 5 took part in a workshop where the children learned about the origins of the blues and learnt to sing and play two blues songs. They loved the genre, which many of them hadn’t heard before, and really enjoyed the songs. The workshop also included an opportunity for the children to play along with the outreach team, which was a great chance for the School Band members to try a different style of music and see how their instruments sounded in a blues ensemble.
Later the classes performed their songs to the rest of the school in a special assembly, which also included an inspiring performance by the outreach team. Lots of the children left school keen to ask their parents to take them to the festival.
Thank you Mr Johnson for organising this fabulous experience, and to Upton Blues Festival for a fantastic musical treat for the last week of term!
